Back (for Now)!

Sat Nov 28, 2009, 8:52 PM
  • Mood: Relief
  • Watching: Crappy SyFy original movies
  • Drinking: Water, only thing I have been drinking all day
Well my classes officially ended a little over a week ago and now I am free from my first quarter of graduate school! I really thought that I would be able to come back here more often but it seems that I haven't really been able to do much since my last journal post in September. Lame! But, I guess I should have expected it. Classes are demanding, on top of having a field practicum for 16 hours a week and a part-time job.

But otherwise life is going pretty well. I hope to be back on here a lot more often at least until January, commenting and possibly submitting a few pieces! I have been taking a lot of pictures that I have been meaning to fix up and upload for a LONG time now, maybe that will eventually get done. I am also toying around with the idea of posting the first couple of chapters in a weird novel I was motivated to begin over the summer. I am so self-conscious about my writing though that I usually whimp out before submitting it. So we'll see if I gather up the courage to expose myself like that. My writing is so personal and the buildup of a lot of personal reflection and feelings about myself. It's difficult to put that all out for the world to see. I know, it's weird but what can you do?

So anyway, I'll be around more often (I hope). Hope everything has been going well with the rest of you as well! Enjoy the commercialized holiday season :)

I am a young graduate student working for my Masters in Social Work at DU. I don't consider myself very artistic, but I do consider myself a community-oriented person. I am here to support the art community through commenting, featuring and informing others! I hope that by my little mark in the dA community, I can gain some artists some well-deserved face time.

Hey, just stumbled across your page randomly, since I read your bio I thought it would be rude not to comment :) Also, I just wanted to say I understand what you mean about not considering yourself to be an artist... I feel the same way all the time (my job is completely separate to my art), but I think creativity is an extension to life, something that can enhance it. I think to produce art in the hope of being the next Matisse is to miss the point completely. For me, my writing, photography and designs are just things that make me happy, my own personal expression, no matter how small. I agree it's a luxury and the first thing that gets axed when I run out of time... and I also have a long trail of old accounts going back years :)

Okay, I'll shut up now. That was a long way of saying hi :)
